Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 October 2026
Petal Closet is a wardrobe app for Android. It is built so that your closet stays on your phone: the server only knows who you are, which plan you have and how much of it you've used. This policy explains exactly what is processed, why, where, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Petal Closet is run by an independent developer ("we", "us"). Contact for anything privacy-related: support@petalcloset.com.
What stays on your phone
Your clothes and their photos, looks, outfit plans, diary entries and selfies, the photos of yourself you use for try-ons, try-on results, the stylist's notes about your preferences and your settings are stored only in the app's private storage on your device. We never receive a copy. Backups exist only where you put them: a ZIP file you export or a folder you choose for automatic backups. Android's cloud backup is turned off for the app.
What we process on our server
| Data | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your Google account's email address and a Google account identifier, received when you sign in with Google | To create and recognise your account | Until you delete your account |
| Your plan (Free, Plus, Pro) and its paid-until date | To give you what you pay for | Until you delete your account |
| How much of your allowance you've used each month, and a log of AI requests (model, cost, time, request id, status) — not their content | To enforce plan limits, refund failed requests and answer billing questions | Until you delete your account |
| Subscription events from RevenueCat (event type, product, dates, your account id) | To switch your plan when you buy, renew, cancel or get a refund | The event id is kept to avoid processing it twice |
| A one-way code derived from your Google account identifier, and how much of the free trial it used | So deleting and re-creating an account doesn't give a second free trial | Kept after account deletion; it contains no email or name |
| Your IP address, in memory only | Rate limiting against abuse | About a minute; not written to disk or logs |
The server keeps a daily backup of this database for 14 days, so deleted accounts disappear from backups within 14 days. We do not use analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and we don't sell or share your data for marketing.
Photos and the AI features
A photo leaves your phone only when you start an AI step yourself:
- Catalog cleanup, cloud cutout and auto-tagging: the photo of that one piece of clothing.
- Try-on: the photo of yourself you selected and the photos of the chosen pieces.
- Stylist chat, smart search and outfit ideas: text only — your message, a short list of your pieces (category, colour, name, tags, when you wore them), the weather and your saved preferences. No photos.
These requests pass through our server, which forwards them to fal.ai (United States), the AI provider that runs the image models, and, for the stylist, to Google's Gemini model via OpenRouter. Our server does not store the photos or the results; it only passes them through. We ask for results to be returned directly rather than stored in the provider's history where the provider supports it; the providers process the data under their own terms and privacy policies. Try-on images are generated by AI and are only an approximation of how clothes would look.
Only use photos of yourself, or of someone who has agreed to it. Don't upload photos of children.
Payments
Subscriptions are bought through Google Play, which handles your payment details; we never see them. RevenueCat (United States) receives the purchase information from Google Play together with your Petal Closet account id, checks it and tells our server which plan to switch on.
Weather
If you set a city for weather-based suggestions, the app sends the city name and its coordinates directly from your phone to Open-Meteo to look up the forecast. Open-Meteo sees your device's IP address as part of that request.
Where the data is
Our server is in Frankfurt, Germany. fal.ai, OpenRouter, Google and RevenueCat may process data in the United States and other countries; transfers rely on the safeguards in their terms, such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
Legal bases (GDPR)
- Running your account, your plan and the AI features you request: performance of our contract with you.
- Abuse prevention (rate limits, one free trial per Google account) and keeping billing records: our legitimate interest in a fair, working service.
- Records we must keep by law, if any apply: legal obligation.
Your choices and rights
- Delete your account at any time: in the app (Me → Settings → Account → Delete my account) or on petalcloset.com/delete-account. This removes your account, plan and usage history from the server right away (and from backups within 14 days).
- Delete the data on your phone with Settings → Delete all my data, or by uninstalling the app.
- You can ask us for a copy of what the server holds about you, to correct it, to restrict or object to its processing, or to port it: write to support@petalcloset.com.
- You can complain to your data protection authority.
A subscription is cancelled in Google Play, not by deleting the account.
Children
Petal Closet is not meant for children under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
